Staff Nurse - Oncology Day Unit

Lucas Love Healthcare are recruiting a Staff Nurse - Oncology day Unit for our esteemed client, a South Dublin Private Hospital.

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care.

You will be responsible for complete care of patients assigned to you in the Oncology Day Unit.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.

    Experience in working in oncology is a plus.

  • Must be registered with the NMBI in Ireland with a valid PIN.

  • Must be fluent in English.

  • Must be able to adapt to working independently or in a team as per the requirement.


  • Work as per the guidelines set by the hospital and have awareness on policies practices set by the Department of Health for safe administration of cytotoxic preparations.

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receiving chemotherapy have continued access to specialist care, knowledge and expertise.

  • Follow the administration of prescribed cytotoxic chemotherapy to oncology patients via cannula, PICC, Hickman or Portacath.

  • To administer chemotherapy in accordance with the protocols as set out by the hospital.

  • Will be familiar with and adhere to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework (Nursing & Midwife Board of Ireland 2000).

  • Observe, record and assess the status of patients and suggest interventions.

  • Effective management of complaints and utilization of all resources.

  • Will participate in quality management process, evaluate current policies to meet best practices.

  • Will work with the nurse manager in developing teaching skills to implement orientation and teaching programs for student nurses and new staff in clinical setting.

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities at all times.

  • Must be willing to participate in on-going professional development as per the needs of the role and participate in health promotion initiatives.
