This Home is based in Southampton and caters for up to 48 residents who require nursing, respite and end of life care.

The home also has a dedicated wing for those residents requiring help with assisted living and rehabilitation.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of ancient woodland, providing a secure, relaxed and homely environment for both long and short stays.


This delightful care home has been rated 'Good' by the CQC.



Task Responsibilities for the Deputy Manager Include:



  • Support the Manager in implementing all departmental policies and procedures and in carrying out tasks related to budgets, Health and Safety, staff supervision, training and appraisal, and recruitment of care staff.

  • ·Support the Manager to create and maintain a positive approach to resource creation is the norm.

  • Support the Manager to ensure that the service provided is of highest possible quality within available resources.

  • Assist with the evaluation and monitoring of the service.

  • Ensure that all service users and carers are enabled and encouraged to participate in all decisions affecting their lives, the design of services to meet their needs and users within the home.

  • Report shortfalls to the Manager.

  • Assess the preparation and presentation of reports and assessments.

  • Design and implement rotas to suit the needs of the establishment and which will maximise the use of staff over a twenty-four period.

  • Assess and supervise the assessment of client need and ensure that an appropriate level of care is provided through sensitive care practices, designed to preserve individuality and maximise independence.

  • Delegate key worker duties to care assistants.

  • Liaise with Social service personnel and other outside agencies in relation to current or prospective residents, and to convene and / or participate in case conferences, design care plans and rehabilitative programmes as required.

  • Ensure that the social, occupational, recreational, medical, dietary and religious needs of clients are met whether indigenous or ethnic origin.

  • Work on a rota basis and respond to emergency calls when required.

  • Act as chairperson at staff or other meetings when required.

  • Ensure the control and disposal of prescribed drugs and medications.



Requirements:



  • Current NMC registration, ENB 998/Mentorship Qualification or equivalent.

  • Evidence of further relevant post-registration professional development.

  • Minimum of five years' post registration experience, at least three within a senior management role.

  • Experience of managing care and nursing within Social Care or another relevant environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to implement strategies and approaches to deliver CQC Fundamental Standards.

  • Comprehensive understanding and ability to deliver governance and quality assurance frameworks.

  • Highly developed and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    A flexible approach to the working week, which includes early starts, evenings, weekends and Duty Management cover by prior agreement, to support special activities and the needs of the Home.
