Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager - Permanent - Remote - up to £50,000DOE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join this world leading innovator in Renewable Energy of Power Systems and Smart Low Power Appliances.

This is a very unique opportunity to work for a company that genuinely make a huge impact on the lives of people in less developed countries in Africa.

This role is central to creating impact in the lives in the company's current and future customers, steering proposal teams from identification of opportunities through to the submission of winning proposals.

You will be an exceptional Business Development Manager with a proven track record of raising capital to fuel the next generation of their connected assets from impact donors.

Working closely with the Head of development in the UK and Africa to develop persuasive, logical proposals that illustrate innovation for the broader sector and value for money from their donors.

You will be entrepreneurial, with proposal management experience, excellent written and presentational communication skills and a problem-solving mind-set.


  • Degree Educated in a relevant subject: Business Studies, English Language, Marketing, Communications

  • Proven background in successful delivery of all business development activities (Full life cycle) from opportunity identification to proposal submission with a specific focus on donor-funded programmes (government development funds and private foundations)

  • Previous background in leading the pursuit process and production of proposals, capability statements, expressions of interest

  • Strong proposal/project/sales pipeline management with high interpersonal skills, relationship building and negotiation skills

  • Ability to write compelling and concise narratives for a range of audiences using Word and PowerPoint

  • Copywriting, proof-reading skills, writing winning proposals, presenting, engaging with stakeholders both internal and external

  • You will have an interest in addressing the social, political, environmental and economic challenges around the world, complemented by an interest in proposal and programme design, sales and communications and bidding.

  • Willingness to travel is required (international travel once per month)


  • Prior experience working with development donor is an advantage

  • Accreditation in proposal development best practice will be an advantage
