Yard/Store Person

This is a great opportunity to join a successful company.

Our client requires an experienced yard/store person to maintain the yard area and be responsible for equipment hire and returns, stock control.

general maintenance of equipment, goods in and dispatch.


The Role



  • The cleaning of equipment returned from hire contracts and also equipment from the service department.

  • The daily safety inspection of equipment used in the workshop and yard.

  • Carry out the routine checks of the company's pool vehicles.

  • Organising the yard/storage area and workshop

  • Booking in of our fleet of rental equipment, liaising with other departments to ensure the best possible plant turnaround and therefore availability of assets.

  • Working with our management team, to ensure all hired plant meets our stringent quality standards before dispatch.

  • Supervision of van stock held by our site staff.

  • Ensuring all operations conducted in your area meet our, and our customers, Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards.

  • Compile and maintain an inventory of equipment/parts held in the workshop/store.

  • Control of “goods in” and “dispatch”.

  • The day to day support of our team of Service Engineers and operations staff.

  • Basic practical skills to assist engineers in the dismantling/assembly and cleaning of equipment.

  • Delivery and collection of equipment and parts using vehicles up to 3.5 ton, sometimes with trailer and HIAB fitted, throughout the UK.

  • Improving the efficiency and productivity within the Service Department.

  • Ensuring sufficient critical spare parts are held and maintained for all rental equipment.

  • Use of Telehandler and forklift for the loading/off-loading of equipment.

  • Some site work will be required to assist with the installation of equipment.

  • Organising the stores in a professional organised manner.

  • Managing stock control using company operating system.


The Person



  • Organised and responsible, mature minded energetic person to assist with the operation of the companies activities.

  • Ideally worked in an engineering or rental environment

  • High level of commitment and be flexible in their approach to working hours.

  • Hard working and resourceful, and must be willing to work as part of a team and as an individual.

  • Good communication skills, dealing with colleagues and customers at all levels.

  • Basic IT skills.

  • Ideally have existing forklift, Telehandler and HIAB training, although training will be provided for the right person.

  • Ideally have past experience in the Water/Waste or rental industry.

  • Must hold a full, clean driving licence for vehicles up to 3.5 ton with trailer
