Support Practitioner

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen at First City Nursing and Care!

Over the coming weeks First City will commence the opening and running of a Respite and Recovery provision.

This will be a 7 bedded facility close to the centre of town where staff will work across various shifts over a 7 day period supporting the respite needs and onward recovery of those being discharged from hospital for whom their regular home is not yet the most suitable environment for them.

Arising from this we would like to advertise the following 2 job roles and will welcome existing staff as well as new applicants to apply.

The work within these roles will be on a temporary basis for a limited period of time.

Following which those that were existing staff will return to their usual roles within the organisation and new staff will be welcome to undertake permanent roles within First City's many regular services.

All roles will require the highest standards of care and support to be delivered to those who will often be very poorly and may need assistance with all daily living functions as well as tasks relating to their physical wellbeing and empathetic support with their mental wellbeing.

In addition to these general expectations, those applying to work in these roles will also meet additional criteria as follows:

Support Practitioner role.

  • Will have previous experience or be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to deliver support to people with extremely challenging health conditions.

  • A proven record of exemplary standards and quality.

  • Will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of COVID19.

  • Will be required to understand and follow the government guidance and policies and procedures laid down by First City Nursing Services.

  • Will be required to demonstrate an excellent understanding of recognising and acting upon risks and issues of concern within this type of environment.

  • Will be able to demonstrate the skills and resilience required for this environment, including the ability to remain calm but responsive to the needs of the customer

Lead Support Practitioner role.

Excellent salary based on 42 hours a week

  • Will have the ability to demonstrate exemplary commitment and approach to the managing of risk, Infection control and ultimate best practice relating to both complex care environments and Covid 19 guidance.

  • Will be able to demonstrate a proven record of supporting others working in difficult or challenging environments through supervision and mentoring.

  • Experienced in being responsive to the changing needs of both staff and patients and understands the importance and dedication required to continually update own knowledge of Covid19 guidance in order to support others.

  • Solid experience of delivery care in complex environments and a wealth of knowledge around procedures, approaches and techniques.

  • Must be able to maintain regular and vital communications with Senior Managers, Health Care professionals and relevant others in order to promote safe and collaborative working across all areas.

    With excellent written records being maintained for auditable purpose.
