Environment Operations Manager


Job description:



Are you an ITIL certified Environment Operations Manager with experience of working in complex, large scale, Technology environments within Financial Services? If so, Core-Asset's client, a leading financial services organisation, has an excellent opportunity to join their IT Operations Department in Essex.



The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring environment stability and service availability by supporting the delivery of the Environment Operations Team strategy with an emphasis on process automation.



Essential Skills/Experience:



  • ITIL foundation qualified

  • Strong management and leadership background to deliver business goals and encourage team to fulfill their full potential

  • Experience with supporting Windows and Linux operating systems, Java applications, .Net applications, scripting languages, T-Sql, AWS, cloud native technologies

  • Understanding of change and risk management within a complex operational environment

  • Understanding complex architecture across multiple environment stacks and technologies

  • Software Development Life Cycle and Change Management experience.



Core responsibilities:



  • Support the delivery of the Environment Operations departmental strategy and manage a continuous improvement programme in-line with policies and procedures

  • Provide a highly available, stable, and controlled multiple Platform environment with a focus on process management, automation, and a rapid change deployment capability

  • Team capacity management and future workload planning and allocation ensuring continual service improvement

  • Regular control reviews, including retrospective control evaluations, for appropriateness

  • Work closely with Service Transition to ensure visibility of future project requirements ensure appropriateness of delivery and resource availability

  • Monitor the automated environment and alerting

  • Ensure the timely delivery of environments following a refresh, with minimal issue investigation

  • Work closely with Service Management to ensure critical incidents are visible and investigated accordingly

  • Work closely with our Technical Architects and Infrastructure partner to evaluate capacity utilisation and appropriateness of current and future infrastructure provision

  • Work closely with Internal Risk functions to ensure appropriate controls are in place to safeguard the department

  • Create and review monthly and ad-hoc Service reports containing SLA, KPI and KRI data

  • Regular senior engagement with Suppliers to investigate and resolve critical deployment issues

  • Regular engagement with Suppliers and internal development teams to ensure appropriateness and standardisation in deliveries.
