Adult Disability Support Worker - Band 3 (Island of Alderney)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiatic Support Worker to join the Adult Disabilities Services team on the beautiful Island of Alderney, the second largest of the States of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.


This role is supporting a 21 year old male Service User who is Autistic, mostly non-verbal with epilepsy.


The hours are predominantly 09:00-17:00 (variable on occasion) Monday to Saturday.

Sundays and overnight support is provided by the Service Users family.


Staffing is delivered by a team of Support Workers on a 2:1 ratio and locations are between the Service Users two residences, as such a driving licence although not strictly essential would be an advantage, with car provided.



Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scales.


The current Guernsey Band 3 salary is £21,941 to £25,762 plus an annual bonus of £1,286 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 40% evening/Saturday and 80% Sunday/BH.
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

The island of Alderney is in the Channel Islands, located near Guernsey and not far from the French coast.


The island boasts elegant beaches, historic fortifications, and a small castle, all part of a unique island community.

Person Requirements:
Appropriate experience of providing support for a simlar Service User.
NVQ or equivalent qualification is desirable but there is an opportunity for you to progress through to NVQ 3 or BTech in Positive Behaviour Support.
A flexible approach and a willingness to experience working in a rural and remote island setting.
