Project Manager

Project Manager, Mobility
Salary range: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum
Hours: Full time
Contract: Fixed term until March 2022


Who we need
The Mobility Project Manager will monitor, manage and guide the consortiums and manage risks with the consortium and across a portfolio of projects.

You will be responsible for reporting status to the Programme Director and providing evidence to the public funding bodies of DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) and TfWM (Transport for West Midlands) on a quarterly basis.


About the team
Mobility is a Programme workstream focussed on transport in the West Midlands and has 3 key strategic objectives.

They include improving operational efficiency at an individual service or across modes of transport, supporting the integration of a growing transport infrastructure and providing improved traveller experience.

The Mobility workstream has funding from local and central government to provide financial support for businesses developing new technology and business ideas using 5G as an enabler.

The Mobility programme is working in collaboration with TfWM (Transport for West Midlands) as a regional sponsor who are providing guidance and support with the Local Authorities and who are co-leading a major investment in road sensor technology focussed on improving traffic management and associated environmental impacts.


The project manager will work for the Mobility Programme Director.

The Project Manager will set-up and manage multiple grant funded projects.

This includes the setup of the projects to ensure due diligence is followed, projects have a clear baseline of delivery milestones and budgetary forecasting and organisations commercial viability is checked.

There are 2 competitions planned, the first has just closed and was run by Innovate UK, those projects will be selected end June with due diligence starting early July.

The second competition will run during Autumn 2020 with Innovate UK again leading the process and projects starting February 2021.

5G is the next generation of mobile technology that will transform citizens lives, public services and businesses in the next decade.

The West Midlands has secured funding to build the UK's first region-wide 5G testbed to lead the acceleration of 5G network deployment and to test, prove and scale major new 5G services.

Following a successful launch, WM5G is now focussed on projects delivery across 3 main workstreams of Mobility, Infra-structure Acceleration with the third being an Application Accelerator.
