Safeguarding Hub Support Officer (Police)

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Safeguarding Hub Support Officer to be based in Penrith, Cumbria.

The successful candidate will work as part of the police team in Cumbria's Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and to support the multi-agency Safeguarding Hub response, in identifying the most vulnerable children in Cumbria and assisting in keeping them as safe as possible.



This will be done by sharing information and processing safeguarding referrals that relate to children.
These safeguarding referrals relate to Domestic Abuse and Vulnerable Child matters.

The post holder will also refer vulnerable people to multi-agency initiatives and external organisations when appropriate.



Key Responsibilities:
-Process vulnerable child and relevant domestic abuse referrals.
-Process child Missing from Home reports.
-Maintain and manage the police / care home MOU.
-Make effective decisions around risk of harm to children and conduct regular risk assessments on individual safeguarding referrals and cases.


-Screen /review safeguarding referrals, when directed to by a detective sergeant.
-To make referrals to MARAC, DVDS, MAPPA, IOM, MACE, Prevent, IDVA, Victim Support where appropriate.

Essential Experience:
-Experience of working in a Safeguarding environment.
-Experience of working with multi-agency partners.
-Ability to deal with sensitive/distressing information.
-Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality, using tact and diplomacy where applicable.

It would be an advantage if candidates had experience working with either Cumbria Constabulary or Cumbria County Council IT systems.

Candidates must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years due to vetting purposes.
