Principal Welding Engineer

Due to a drive for greater success, this advanced manufacturing business is currently searching for a Principal Welding Engineer to add to their talented, hardworking team in Barrow-in-Furness on a 6-month contract.

This role will be offering £50.00 per hour.

The Role
Within the role of Principal Welding Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing welding engineering guidance and support to structural and piping areas across the submarines business unit.

  • Undertaking Procedure Qualification Record development, testing and formal approval of welding procedure specifications.

  • Assisting with preparation and transmittal of welding documentation to production areas.

In addition, you'll also monitor weld quality within structural and piping areas and report findings to line management.


To succeed within the role of Principal Welding Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position, and you'll ideally have the following skills:

  • Qualified to BSc/BEng level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.

  • European Welding Federation qualification to Engineer level Chartership or equivalent.

  • Familiar with national and international codes and specifications relating to welding.

In addition, the ability to assimilate and process data from a range of sources.
