The Role

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and talented Paramedic to join the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport as Senior Lecturer to lead the new BSc Paramedic Science Programme.

The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered paramedic who has explicit knowledge of the College of Paramedics Educational Framework.

Those applying for the Teaching and Research post should possess a PhD and be able to carry out independent research and act as principal investigator.



Ideally they will have research supervision experience at a range of levels.

They should also show evidence of design, development and delivery of programmes at various levels.

Those applying for the Teaching and Scholarly post should hold a PhD in relevant discipline or equivalent Practice/professional experience and/or PhD/Clinical Doctorate (working towards or achieved).

Evidence of engagement in pedagogic and/or practitioner research and other scholarly activities is required.

For both the T&S and T&R post, candidates must demonstrate evidence of academic leadership.



A secondment to this role would also be considered.

Description of Duties

Teaching & Scholarship

Design, deliver, assess and evaluate a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes where required

Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports student learning and is underpinned by evidence based scholarly activity

Enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector

Teaching & Research

Engage in individual and collaborative research of international standard, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of research and disseminate results through regular publication in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings

Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded

Supervise research students as required, providing direction, support and guidance

Previous Knowledge and ExperienceTeaching & Scholarship

PhD in relevant discipline or equivalent Practice/professional experience and/or PhD/Clinical Doctorate (working towards or achieved)

Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent e.g.

PGCert and/or holding or working towards Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA)

HCPC Registered Paramedic with explicit knowledge of College of Paramedics Educational Framework and extensive operational experience as a front line paramedic.

Teaching & Research

PhD in relevant discipline
