Lead Nurse - Hertfordshire

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Lead Nurse for a school Medical Centre to lead the running of the Medical Centre and provide and promote health care to all pupils at the school, reporting to Assistant Head.

This is a 52 week contract working part-time and term time, plus two weeks in the holidays for administration.

The requirement is to cover 20 hours per week.


Role Responsibilities:

Sister in Charge Duties
To line manage to Medical Centre sisters.


To be responsible for the overall running/maintenance of the Medical Centre.


To be responsible for purchasing equipment medication/stock as required.


To oversee stock control.


To be the budget holder.


To prepare and publish duty rotas.


To write and update all protocols.



General Duties
To provide emergency treatment pupils and staff as required.


Assessment of girls and provide nursing care as necessary.


To assist in the running of regular surgeries throughout the day.


To provide ongoing nursing care and regular assessment of unwell girls admitted to the Medical Centre.


To ensure regular communication with House staff and parents concerning ill girls.


To maintain accurate written log of all girls attending the Medical Centre.


To attend regular weekly meetings/ communication with all Housemistresses and Houseparents.


To attend regular weekly meetings/communication with Deputy Head, Pupils and Assistant Head (Boarding)
To carry out blood tests and some vaccinations for boarders as required.


Essential Skills & Requirements:

The successful applicant will be RGN Qualified.

Practice nurse/School nurse experience would be beneficial.
