Building Maintenance Manager

A Local Authority based in West London is looking for a Building Maintenance Manager to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a Building Surveying/Building Maintenance background, a full relevant construction qualification, strong experience within Building Maintenance/Facilities Management and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the budget and programme delivery for maintaining the council's corporate buildings and other buildings by agreement.

The role will have direct management responsibilities staff including surveyors, technical and administrative support.
The successful candidate will be acting as the lead advisor on building use during the current pandemic.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Working within the Directorate with responsibility for ensuring the overall delivery of our maintenance service.


Responsible for managing a team of 10 staff.


The role will also manage a budget of circa £5m including the corporate FM budgets as well as those on behalf of schools.
Ensure the council's corporate building stock is properly serviced and kept safe, enabling the continuing provision of services to the community.
It provides comprehensive suite of services to the Civic Centre, Central Depot, Schools in the FM SLA, other corporate buildings as well as a landlord compliance regime for schools not in the SLA and operates the council's out-of-hours service.
The Building Services Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Council sites are available and fully serviced to allow the users of the site to enjoy full usage.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Qualified Building Surveyor with extensive experience in this specific field of operation.
Minimum requirement in the ability to use MS Office - word processing, spreadsheet packages and email.


Working knowledge of relevant Health, Safety and Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practices.
Contract Management of an FM performance regime.
Experience of monitoring FM contracts.
Senior managerial experience in a relevant operational environment with management experience of maintenance, asset management, budget control, facilities management, resource management, project management, contract management.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £30 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx.

£730 p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
