Specialist Primary Autism Teacher - Mitcham (South London)

Salary: £34-£45k inc.

SEN allowance (depending on experience) + TLR for ICT Lead

The Company

Our established client who is a special school for pupils aged from 4 to 12 years who have a diagnosis of Autism or Asperger Syndrome are looking for an experienced primary Autism Teacher who is passionate about children's learning and engagement to join their team.

The Role

You will be responsible for teaching a class of 4 to 6 pupils assisted by a minimum of 3 Learning Support Assistants as well as being the ICT lead for the school.


Your responsibilities will include

* Line managing your LSAs

* Planning schemes of work with teaching colleagues

* Setting PDP (IEP) targets

* Delivering high quality lessons and assessing pupils' achievement and progress

Key Skills/Requirements:

* A good / outstanding primary teacher with QTS and a strong track record of working with special needs

* must have specialist knowledge and experience of teaching children with autism, either from working in a special school, or from working in a mainstream school that has excellent ASD practice and provision

* Energetic, enthusiastic and hard working

* Highly experienced in ICT within schools

* Experienced in and passionate about working with pupils who have autism

* Conscientious and innovative

* Able to use your knowledge and skills to provide the best possible education for learners

* Committed to working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

* Confident in dealing with children who may sometimes display challenging behaviours

* An outstanding approach to supporting and managing behaviour

* A curriculum based on the National Curriculum developed specifically to meet the teaching and learning needs of children with autism with the school Approach' at its centre
