
Childrens Residential Home - Deputy Manager
We are seeking a committed and experienced Practice Lead to deputise for the Home Manager at our busy Residential Childrens Home service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
You will report to the Home Manager and will be accountable to the Team Manager, Residential Care.
As Practice Lead you will:
- provide support and deputise for the Home Manager to ensure the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of the children in their care are met.
- ensure the creation and support of an ethos that allows the staff team to deliver care to children and young people that is child centred, nurturing, consistent, proactive and promotes recovery.
- support the Home Manager in being responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague.
The salary is up to £34,662 plus an annual bonus of £1,286 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH.
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS or UK Local Government service for annual leave and sick leave.
The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000.
It has some of Britain's finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbour town in St.
Peter's Port, the island's capital.
Person requirements:
- To hold a Level 3 Vocational Qualification, or equivalent
- To hold or bwilling to work towards a VQ Assessment Award
- To hold a clean current (cat B) driving licence.
- To have significant experience in a Residential Children's setting, working as part of a small team and the ability to work under their own initiative.
- To be able to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels, both orally and in writing in order to deliver training as required.
- To have a flexible approach to work in order to work weekends, evenings and bank holidays and to cover in the absence of the Home Manager as and when required.
