Female Support Worker - Truro

One of the largest housing associations in the South West is recruiting for a Female Support Worker to provide emotional and housing related support to 16-25 year old services users in their Young Women's Centre in Truro.

The Service
This role is based in a supported housing service for young women aged 16-25, who have been made homeless through family breakdown and leaving care, with a view to provide emotional and housing support, helping them in to independent living and their own tenancies.

The Role
The focus of this role is to support people to improve their wellbeing, make links with their local communities and manage their homes, working alongside people to support them in meeting their potential in all areas of their lives.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality support in the accommodation services.

Additional tasks and responsibilities will include:
, Work in partnership with clients to provide the best possible service
, Assist clients to develop an individual support & safety plan by identifying goals and assessing barriers to reaching goals
, Advise on tenancy issues, welfare benefits, financial and budgeting matters
, Address practical and emotional needs - from helping clients to find employment, training or educational opportunities, to enabling them to grow in social confidence
, Foster hope and create the conditions in which people can be enabled to live independently and be empowered.

Support people to recover meaning, purpose, choice and control in their lives.
, Ensure the safety of clients, staff and the wider community.
, Develop close links with the local community, promoting a greater understanding of people with support needs whilst promoting equality, diversity, accessibility and inclusion.

Challenge discrimination and stigma and work to the social model of disability.
, Deliver individual and groups support sessions with clients
, Plan, monitor, evaluate and report on work with clients

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have previous experience providing support to young people, ideally in relation to homelessness or mental health.
With this being a female only scheme, only female applicants may apply and due to the nature of clients you will be supporting in this role, to apply you will require an enhanced DBS, ideally on the update service.

The Contract
This is a 20 hour per week contract, for an initial 4-5 weeks to cover the recruitment process for a permanent member of staff.

Full time applicants will also be considered and you will also be able to apply for the permanent role once in post.
The role works a number of shifts:
, Days - 9:30 - 16:30
, Lates - 15:00 - 23:00
, Sleep Ins - 23 - 09:30 (follow lates)
