Draughtsperson/CAD Technician

Draughtsperson - West London

Role:

Produce and document detailed design of highly technical systems, in particular:

• Produce detailed mechanical drawings of components and systems using AutoCad Inventor.


• Prepare bills of materials for systems.


• Maintain manufacturing drawings up-to-date as products evolve.


• Work closely with Purchasing ensuring timely arrival of materials and components.


• Work closely with Machine Shop and Project Engineer(s) to ensure faithful implementation of designs.

Experience required:

• Demonstrated competence in CAD design and solid modelling.


• Previous experience with AutoCad Inventor essential.


• Practical knowledge of mechanical engineering, including machine shop techniques required.


• Ability to work to deadlines and initiative to work under own steam.


• Previous exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes such as vacuum impregnation and composite manufacture desirable.


• Previous practical experience e.g.
  
  as a technician in a manufacturing environment useful.


• Ability and willingness to communicate and work closely with colleagues.

Education:

City and Guilds qualification in mechanical engineering helpful as would be previous experience as a time-served technician.

Experience and knowledge of following technology useful but not necessary: cryogenics, materials, superconducting magnets, composites, vacuum, scientific instruments, space technology.
