Downstream Process Scientist

We are currently looking for an Downstream Process Scientist to join an exciting biotechnology company based in the Berkshire area.

As the Downstream Process Scientist you will be responsible for performing chromatography and filtration methods for process development, optimisation and characterisation studies for the production of biotherapeutics.


Your duties as the Downstream Process Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:


You will perform procedures such as normal flow filtration, tangential flow filtration and column and membrane chromatography, for downstream process development and process characterisation.


It will be your job to execute good documentation practices when writing, reviewing and revising SOPs, protocols, reports and risk assessments.


You will be required to support the technology transfer of processes from the European site to the UK, and then to external CMOs.


As the Downstream Process Development Scientist, you will work closely with the Scientists in Analytical Development and Upstream Process Development, and may be cross-trained in these areas to support the wider team.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Downstream Process Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:


Relevant degree in a Science subject (e.g.

Biological Sciences, Biological Engineering, Immunotherapy, Biotechnology, Bioprocess, etc.) is essential for this position.


Proven industry experience in a Downstream Process Development environment will be highly beneficial to your application.


A working knowledge and practical experience with AKTA purification systems and TFF methods will be necessary for this job.
