First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Civils Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

The role is principally working within the Fibre Trunk Team supervising construction sites and subcontractors as they build and maintain telecoms civils infrastructure, monitoring compliance with safety codes and regulations.

Our client strongly encourages applications from ex-military personnel however, all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing teams from design and delivery to building and repair telecoms duct networks whilst meeting NRSWA and Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensure all works documentation and as-builts drawings are completed to Company standards.
  • Ensure that all contractors under supervision are competent, fully trained, are aware of all requirements and have been fully approved, appraised and / or inducted before starting on site.
  • Negotiating contracts and obtaining permits – liaising with local authorities and other 3rd parties.
  • Managing on-site construction personnel to deliver quality and compliant works.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Committed to making the Health & Safety of colleagues and the public the highest priority.
  • 3+ years working on streetworks civils projects – ideally on telecoms with a knowledge of fibre.
  • Qualified with NRSWA Supervisor and Health and & Safety accreditations.
  • Willing to work away and available for some weekends, early morning starts and night working.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • High standard of communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think methodically and to manage projects.
  • Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Complete knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Confidence to initiate and then implement new processes, demonstrating a determination to succeed.
  • Experience working with London Local Authorities beneficial.
