Shift Controller
As the Shift Controller, you will be managing the shift and supervisors for production and packaging on the factory floor.
This role could suit someone currently working in a team leadership position within production looking to progress or an individual currently managing.
This role is offered on a permanent basis.
Main Responsibilities for the Shift Controller
- Ensure food safety, integrity, legality and quality is maintained
- Ensure staff follow all company procedures and health and safety standards
- Organise and allocate sufficient numbers of personnel to enable lines to operate & process efficiently
- Liaise with service departments to ensure all equipment, materials and packaging are available in sufficient quantities/correct time to ensure all processes start on time and operate efficiently
- Maintain effective lines of clear communication across all shifts and all departments
- Resolve any issues raised or non-conformance efficiently and effectively
- Ensure the control and management of all agency staff whilst on site
- Manage/review staff performance, time keeping, holidays & absence
- To identify training requirements and encourage multi-skilled operators
- Provide cover for production management when and where required
- Responsible for site security during shift, opening and locking up factory securely
- Duties may vary depending on the requirements of the business
Required Skills, Experience, Knowledge, Competencies:
- Food Hygiene, HACCP would be preferred, but is not a prerequisite
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Methodical and logical with attention to detail
- Team leadership within an FMCG environment
- Computer literacy in both Company systems and Microsoft Office
- The ability to handle and keep information relating to business confidentially
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with ability to multi-task and remain calm in a pressurised environment.
- Quick to learn and proactive.
- Worked with or has experience of Continuous Improvement techniques including: - SIC boards, SMED, Root Cause Analysis, calculating efficiency/OEE and 5 s
- Able to accurately calculate Yield, Waste and labour cost
