• A background in E-commerce and working in a SME business.
• An entrepreneurial approach to solving logistics and operational challenges.
• An ability to adapt and drive organisational change
• An Hands-on leader and excellent People Manager
• Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of the freight forward industry; Air, Sea & Road
• Daily management and point of escalation concerning all UK customs matters
• Ideally experience of deploying WMS / ERP systems

The Role

The Operations Manager will take responsibility for the fulfilment centre, looking after everything from goods in through to final production, within a fast paced FMCG environment.

Duties will include...

• Oversee the operations of the distribution centre.
• Ensure the DC is set up for success with the correct resource, skills, equipment and ways of working that conform to the company standards.
• Manage the budget for the DC and lead the team to deliver against the plan whilst regularly reporting performance back to the Board.
• Manage Customer Service Team
• Manage inward and outward couriers and carriers for all group Operations including annual negotiations
• Oversee supply chain & logistics from order to delivery
• Provide advice on packaging and transport for Far East manufactured products
• Manage premises & facilities - 2 DC sites.
• Responsible for Health & Safety procedures at DC sites.
• Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
• Support worker communication with the management team.
• Provide inspired leadership for the business.

• Communicating changes in an order process to all relevant parties.
• Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures.
• International shipping strategy and cost management
• Deliver pick and pack rates
