Law Costs Draftsperson

We have been instructed by a leading law firm with several offices throughout the UK.

Prominent for their work in the public sector, this multidisciplined practice currently has an opening for a Legal Costs Draftsperson within their Leeds city centre office.

On offer here is the opportunity to join an expert and supportive team in the Clinical Law department.

On behalf of our client we are keen to hear from candidates who have worked for at least 12 months in a defendant capacity as a Legal Cost Draftsperson and are looking for a new challenge at an acclaimed and agile firm.

In order to succeed and get the most out of this role, it's essential that your strong technical knowledge matches your excellent costs negotiation skills.

Some main responsibilities include: drafting Bills of Costs and Points of Dispute, negotiating settlement of costs, preparing Precedent H Costs Budgets (and other budgeting documents) in preparation for and following CCMCs and preparing Statements of Costs for summary assessment.

Some other duties involve: updating and advising fee earners on an array of legal costs issues and doing so in a manner that complies with internal and client procedures as well as KPIs.

It would be advantageous although not essential if you have litigation experience in clinical negligence and /or healthcare litigation.

You must possess a comprehensive understanding and use of the Civil Procedure Rules relating to costs, knowledge and applications of costs law.

In addition to your technical skillset, having a methodical and analytical approach to your workload and being able to prioritise tasks is paramount with this fast paced environment.
