First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Supply Chain Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

You will be managing a team of 5+ people therefore proven management experience is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take direct responsibility of 3PLs including the physical supply chain for films, coatings and foils.
  • Take direct responsibility for the management of the Operations team.  Ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet the requirements of the business.
  • Set objectives for the Operations team.  Monitor and report performance against those objectives.
  • Coach and mentor the Operations team and, where appropriate, identify training needs.
  • Establish a suite of KPI’s that can be used to evaluate and compare 3PLs.
  • On a monthly basis, analyse and report upon 3PLs .
  • Arrange regular meetings with 3PLs to review performance, set objectives and set key parameters, including base fuel costs and, if appropriate, incentives to reward good performance.
  • Meet with alternative 3PL service providers and, subject to suitability, establish their cost competitiveness.
  • Support the development of Quality systems by analysing cases raised for 3PLS and identifying and implementing parameters that can improve OTIF and minimise NCRs.
  • Reconcile inventory records with 3PLs, where appropriate investigate and resolve any discrepancies that arise in a timely manner.
  • Resolve quality issues affecting customers promptly, where necessary arranging collections investigations and if necessary liaising with insurers.
  • Support activities including packaging waste regulations declarations, HMRC audits and insurance innspections at 3PLs.
  • Develop internal processes and procedures that optimise business efficiency.
  • Where necessary, liaise with the providers of IT services to ensure that any required development takes place to support the needs of Operations.
  • In conjunction with the Supply Chain Development Manager, establish outline specifications for the warehousing requirements so that potential 3PLs can efficiently evaluate requirements.
  • Schedule and chair Operations  Meetings, providing relevant and concise information on performance, initiatives and opportunities.
  • Keep all corporate, financial and commercial information records and comments confidential.
  • Support the recruitment of new Operations Team members.
  • Be flexible in respect of Company needs and assist others where necessary.
  • Produce a monthly Operations Report.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Logistics trained.
  • 5 GCSE’s grade C or above including English Language and Maths.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Minimum of 3-years’ work experience in a logistics environment.
  • Minimum of 3-years’ experience of working within a team and supervising or managing staff.
  • Experience of inventory management & reporting.
  • Experience of managing 3PLs.
  • Experience in stock reconciliation.
  • Able to work within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing interests.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • IT Skills including Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint, ERP Systems, BI Tools and CRM.
  • Ability to work with shareholder representatives.
  • A desire to ensure the highest standards are met and a focus on continuous improvement.
