Investigation Officer (PIP2) - Police

Service Care Solutions are looking for a PIP2 accredited Investigative Officer to work on a contract with a local police force in Preston, Lancashire.

Job Purpose:

To work as an effective member of the Exploitation Team by focusing on Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery, and Criminal Child Exploitation through a combination of Multi-agency Safeguarding and conducting criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

,Responsible for combating Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery, and Criminal Child Exploitation by developing, monitoring, analysing and evaluating intelligence and information gathered from a variety of sources, including the Duty to Notify Scheme, National Referral Mechanism, human sources and general community intelligence, in conjunction with Divisional Intelligence Unit and Risk and Threat (MoRiLE)

,Risk assessing cases of Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery, Child Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation using the recognised force risk assessment policies and guidance.



,Maintaining accurate and up to date matrices for prioritising victims, offenders and investigations.



,Contributing to ensuring the Safeguarding of exploited victims and manage risk in such areas as Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery, Child Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation to protect the most vulnerable people in society.

,Working directly with Multi-agency partners to safeguard victims of Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery, Child Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation

,Conducting complex criminal investigations into Human Traffic Trafficking,
Modern Day Slavery, and Criminal Child Exploitation

,Working alongside and in conjunction with activity of the BCU Target Team -Level 1 following Divisional Daily Risk and Threat

,Conduct the collection and gathering of evidence, ensuring that processes are in place for the recording and retention of material from a range of sources in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process

,Assess evidence and evaluate material generated by the investigation of Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery and Child Criminal Exploitation.



,Support the planning, co-ordination and execution of joint operations directed at disrupting, arresting offenders in partnership with other Departments and other agencies

,Support the formation of partnerships with other agencies to ensure that intelligence is developed effectively and that information is disseminated appropriately

,Interview witnesses and suspects and gather all required evidence and information within the criminal law and legal framework to bring offenders to justice

,Prepare reports on the outcome of investigations and manage files within best practice procedures.

,Identify and present case materials, working closely with the CPS to progress the case

,Securing,recovering and preserving evidence related to criminal activity

,To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post

,Comply with NPCC, College of Policing APP, Constabulary and Divisional standards for the quality of crime management and intelligence information

Essential Criteria:

- PIP level 2 trained and accredited or willing to complete the PIP2 programme within 12 months of attending the course

- Experience of conducting successful Volume and Priorty Crime crime investigations, both pro active and re active

- Experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System relating to the PACE Act, including searching premises, handling exhibits, interviewing suspects, and CPIA 1996, relating to disclosure

This is an ex-officer role, meaning applicants must have served with a UK-based Police Force previously in order to be considered.
