Joining the team as Analytical Chemist, Medical Products means working with the market leader in the manufacture of chemical products, supporting site and global operations through executing multiple chemical and physical testing on a variety of raw materials, components and finished products.

This role will be based on a 12 month fixed term contract.


Responsibilities of the successful Analytical Chemist, Medical Products:



  • Analytical Chemists are responsible for the equipment and methodology used to assess product quality of medical products.

    The instrumentation must be available at all times and calibrated/validated to the highest standards, failure to do so could have serious implications for the business.

  • Lead or support technical projects to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and/or compliance of laboratory processes, procedures and IT systems.

  • The Analytical Chemist will provide training and coaching in QC techniques, test methods and/or laboratory systems to technical and Quality Control teams as required.

  • Manage complex safety challenges of analysis including application of risk assessment and risk mitigation methods for high hazard chemistry.

  • As Analytical Chemist you will be expected to work closely with technical and laboratory teams to understand production processes and requirements to support troubleshooting or improvement activities.


Based at the company's site at Runcorn (WA7 4JE), ideally applicants for the Analytical Chemist, Medical Products position will have experience of method development, preferably working to current cGMP standards.

Additionally, it would be preferable for candidates to have knowledge/experience in gas chromatography and laboratory IT systems (LIMS, CDS).

Experience of validation and/or data integrity would also be a distinct advantage.

A science degree is preferred.
