Teenage Camp HCA Night duty (29th July-10th Aug)

We have a new and interesting opportunity for a Children's-experienced Healthcare Assistant for a British Youth Organisation at their summer camp based between Sheffield and Huddersfield on the edge of the Peak District.
This role is to take responsibility for an otherwise well 15 year old Diabetic child overnight, regularly monitoring blood glucose and liaising with the Camp Registered Nurse if required.

Two well-experienced Registered Nurses manage the healthcare of approx 120 children age group 14 - 16 y.o.

and approx 50 young adult Camp Leaders.
The camp is for healthy children with the Nurses and a HCA managing the general health needs, first-aid and emotional support.

Dates are: from Monday night 2nd August, leaving Sunday morning 15th August – a total of 13 nights, hours of duty 23:00 - 07:00 paid at a nightly rate of £100.

Accommodation can be provided, if not local to the site as is travel reimbursed to site and home.

This role would suit a Paediatric Nursing Student or experienced Paediatric Healthcare Assistant with transferable skills working with teenagers in a campsite setting – please note the conditions on camp are ‘rustic’ and would suit someone experienced with a School Camp setting.

This is a Nurse-led service with no Doctor on site.
There is an optional 1-2 night break available during the 13 nights dependant on workload and Registered Nurse discretion.

Responsibilities Summary:
To be responsible for hourly overnight blood glucose checks 23:00-07:00 utilising a specialist 'app'.

To report abnormalities or concerns to the Registered Nurse.

Person Specification:
Relevant experience with Children and Young People.
Confident with working night duty alone, taking direction as approprite.
Experience of School, Campsite or similar outdoor setting.

Clear recent DBS check.
