Category Buyer

We are working with a leading luxury yach manufacturer and currently on the lookout for Category Buyers to join their team in Poole.

Your previous experience and skills will include
-
experience of working within a complex and dynamic manufacturing environment
-communicating with existing and new suppliers on daily basis, on reviews and on site visits
-organizing delivery schedules and ensuring accurate lead times
-negotiating prices, being cost effective
-understanding of production schedule, tooling and material lead times, negotiation timelines
-working under pressure in a face paced environment
-working to or has CIPS certification.
-has hand on experience with business systems, ERP and P2P experience (e.g.

SAP, Ariba, Oracle), and the material planning process
-Strong project management and process improvement skills
-Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills



Your main tasks will include
-Ensure timely sourcing goods and services to meet business requirements
-To liaise with suppliers with respect delivery schedules and ensuring accurate lead times
-Carry out regular and appropriate supplier reviews to ensure that the performance and quality of service and goods are met.
-Co-ordinate regular meetings with suppliers and site visits, and produce visit reports to record outcomes and actions to address business issues and improvement plans
-Cost effectiveness: Purchase parts demonstrating value for money and from a perspective of total acquisition cost without affecting either the quality of the goods or delivery deadlines
-Creating and maintaining long-term supplier contracts and single source contracts
-Is responsible for managing the suppliers to the contracts or T&C's agreed
-Ability to complete (with support) supplier validation for new and ongoing requirements.

Able to highlight risks and potential mitigation plans for agreement with senior team
-Has an understanding of tiered supply chains and the basic operational requirements of the business for this to be successful
-Has an appreciation of total acquisition cost specifically relating to internal versus external supply and the likely drivers that will need to be considered when making make versus buy decisions
-Able to evaluate sourcing requirements for new models and service requests and to identify critical milestones that will need to be met in order to achieve business targets (e.g.

Production schedule, tooling and material lead times, negotiation timelines.)


The role is mostly office based however, occasionally you might be required to work outside office (company premises, shipyards, boat shows, suppliers and conferences).

The role might include travelling nationally and internationally at a short notice.

Valid full UK driving license is required.
