As a Van Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of vans and light commercial vehicles.

Your role involves ensuring that vans operate efficiently, safely, and reliably to support transportation needs for businesses and individuals.

Below is a detailed job specification outlining the key duties and qualifications for this role:

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and functional issues with vans and light commercial vehicles.

This includes inspecting and servicing components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and exhaust systems.

Servicing: Conduct scheduled servicing of vans to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

This includes changing engine oil, replacing filters, checking fluid levels, inspecting belts and hoses, and performing other preventative maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines.

Diagnostic Work: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex problems with vans.

Analyze symptoms, run diagnostic tests, and identify root causes of issues to facilitate effective repairs.

Parts Replacement: Source and replace worn or damaged parts in vans, including mechanical components, electrical systems, and body panels.

Ensure that replacement parts meet quality standards and are compatible with specific vehicle models.

Electrical Work: Perform electrical repairs and maintenance on vans, including wiring, switches, lighting, and electronic systems.

Test electrical components for functionality and safety compliance.

Welding and Fabrication: Conduct welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify van bodywork and chassis components.

Use welding equipment and techniques to fabricate new parts, repair metal surfaces, and reinforce structural integrity.

Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and guidance to van drivers, fleet managers, or vehicle owners regarding vehicle operation, maintenance procedures, and safety precautions.

Offer recommendations on vehicle usage and maintenance to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
