We are searching for a Regulatory Counsel to join our European Legal and Regulatory Affairs team.

Responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on regulatory change and implementation with reference to the European Union Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and other related regulations affecting the payments industry.



Role:



  • Advise on the interpretation and implementation of DORA and associated secondary instruments, as well as other relevant EU regulations, such as the EBA Outsourcing Guidelines, the EBA ICT Security and Risk Management Guidelines, NIS2 and PSD2.

  • Monitor and analyse regulatory developments and trends in the EU and provide strategic input and recommendations to internal stakeholders and support efforts focused on DORA compliance and readiness.

  • Engage with regulators, industry associations and external counsel as applicable and directed on regulatory matters affecting the company and its products and services.

  • Work closely with other legal and regulatory colleagues, as well as business units, compliance, risk, technology and operations teams, to ensure alignment and consistency of regulatory advice and implementation across the region, products, and businesses.



About You:



  • Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction, with approximately 7+ years of post-qualified experience in financial services regulation, preferably in the payments sector.

  • Sound understanding of DORA and its implications for the payments industry, as well as other relevant EU regulations affecting the company and its products and services.

  • Experience with Payment Institutions and their regulatory requirements in the EU, especially in Belgium.

  • Desirable - Experience with the National Bank of Belgium and the Financial Services and Markets Authority in Belgium.

  • Desirable - Experience with international companies and localised implementation of regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and drafting skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear and practical advice.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Fluent in English with knowledge of other EU languages an asset.



This is a hybrid working freelance contract role based in Waterloo, Belgium.
