Mechanical Technician

Mechanical Technician to join a well-established petrochemical manufacturing company located in East Yorkshire, known as one of the leading producers in Europe.

As a Mechanical Technician your primary responsibilities will entail implementing cost-efficient engineering and maintenance plans for the site's assets, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performance operations.

You will be working within a team consisting of a Maintenance Supervisor, a Mechanical Engineer, and a Maintenance Coordinator.

To be eligible for the Maintenance Technician position, you should possess a solid understanding of pumps and their applications, including hand valves, various types, and repair techniques.

Proficiency in joint repair, gasketing, and selecting appropriate bolting is essential.

Additionally, familiarity with centrifugal and reciprocating compressors is required.

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities



  • Monitor the performance of equipment, ensuring maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting as necessary.

  • Actively participate in assessing equipment performance and addressing any issues encountered.

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and coordinator to manage spare parts for equipment.

  • Conduct laser alignment of rotating equipment and implement preventive maintenance measures using specialized tools.

  • Record maintenance activities electronically and utilise IT systems such as SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Adhere to Control of Work systems and associated Safe System of Operations (SSO's).

  • Supervise and support personnel as needed, including overseeing contractors and service providers.


For this Mechanical Technician position, we are seeking candidates with previous experience in the process/petrochemical industry, particularly those acquainted with Control of Work and COMAH sites.

The ideal candidate will have an ONC qualification in an engineering-related discipline and a background in line management and working collaboratively with maintenance teams.
