Are you an experienced support professional looking to make a difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Teach Plus are working with a welcoming 2-form entry mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team full-time from September 2025.



This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior experience supporting pupils with SEND who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to pupil wellbeing and progress.

The role may involve both 1:1 and small group support across the school.



About the Role:


As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The support you provide will help children overcome learning barriers and access the full curriculum in a nurturing, inclusive environment.



You may support pupils with:



  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) - supporting understanding, expressive language, and social communication

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties - supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) - helping with differentiated tasks, basic literacy/numeracy skills, and scaffolded learning

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and ADHD - offering structure, routine, and strategies for engagement and focus



In some cases, the role may also involve:



  • 1:1 support for pupils with specific SEND needs or EHCPs

  • Assisting with personal care tasks when required

  • Supporting transitions, break times, and classroom routines



Responsibilities:



  • Deliver tailored support in class and during interventions

  • Promote inclusion and independence in learning and social settings

  • Implement strategies set by the class teacher and SENCo

  • Adapt resources and provide differentiated input where needed

  • Monitor and record pupil progress

  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers

  • Help maintain a safe, engaging, and well-structured learning environment



Candidate Requirements:



  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school or childcare setting is essential

  • Understanding of different SEND types and inclusive classroom practice

  • A patient, calm, and flexible approach to supporting learning and behaviour

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for education and helping children succeed

  • Must hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check

  • Right to work in the UK
