Band 7 Diabetes Nurse Specialist

Applications are invited from commited and experienced Diabetes Nurse Specialists to join the Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
The Diabetes Service includes both adult and paediatric diabetologists, specialist nurses and dieticians and provides a specialist service across the acute hospital and community. 

Reporting to the Lead Diabetes CNS you will:
- work collaboratively with multi-professional teams in Primary Care, Secondary Care, in the community and in all care settings (including domiciliary visits) and applies research-based practice to achieve the optimum ‘best clinical practice’ in diabetes care. 
- act as a clinical leader for diabetes for health care workers, patients and their carers in all clinical settings.


- the role also provides clinical leadership in diabetes care by using strategies such as teaching and auditing services. 

Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale, as above.
The current Band 7 salary range is £55,578 to £73,085 plus an annual bonus of £1,605
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS or UK Local Authority service for annual leave and sick leave.

Providing an excellent Diabetes Service, supported by modern equipment and reliant on Healthcare professionals recruited to a high standard.

Person requirements:
NMC-Registered Nurse 
Current or recent Band 6 or Band 7 experience in a Diabetes role 

A post-graduate Diabetes qualification or a willingness to undertake the MSc in Diabetes Integrated Career and Competencies Framework for Diabetes Nursing (Trend 2024) 
To hold or be willing to work toward NMP V300 qualification 
To hold a driving licence
