Job Purpose: Carry out maintenance and repairs on heavy goods vehicles, light commercial vehicles and various items of plant and equipment.
Ensure vehicles are maintained to HGV Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and comply with Construction & Use regulations, PUWER regulations etc.Main duties:
Carry out maintenance and repairs on various items of specialist and auxiliary equipment.
Inspect, maintain and repair vehicles to meet legal requirements and standards laid down by the Department of Transport, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and Goods Vehicle Operator Licence Regulations.
Undertake fault diagnosis and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment including electrical and pneumatic systems.
Interpret technical service data, manufacturers manuals and complex electrical drawings and diagrams.
Complete all relevant documentation in line with legal requirements and Council policies and procedures.
Identify the need and specify replacement parts and administer the issue of parts from stock or via external suppliers
Requirements:
Must hold a City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
Must have a C licence and willing to work to D1 & C1 & C+E
Must be a qualified engineer, with knowledge and experience of mechanical and hydraulic systems with experience in HGV MOT preparation.
