The Mechanical Fitter position is working with an international manufacturer the role offers the ability to work within a modern, well organised and safe working environment, in which low staff turnover exists and employees feel valued, through the training available and overall excellent working conditions that are available.
Working days Monday to Friday, you will be responsible for the mechanical fitting of ancillary equipment onto HGV vehicles, the work is both varied and interesting, to include:
Working with vehicle chassis fitting component parts
Installing hydraulic / pneumatic systems, pumps, valves etc
Being able to weld would be an advantage, but not essential
Working upon both standard and bespoke projects to include the development of new systems and ways of working, as part of a team

Role/Responsibilities of the MIG Welder
Heavy Fabrication role
Read, understand and follow engineering drawings
Use the most suitable welding method for the job at hand
Use various hand and power tools (grinders, cutting torches, hand files, hammer)
Organising the work area before and after parts are processed
Detect and report any equipment malfunctions
Assist with the fabrication of precision components
Welder Fabricator Skill Requirements:
- Ability to MIG weld and fabricate mid to heavy gauge steel
- Be able to complete all necessary paperwork
Good concentration levels with close attention to detail
Excellent practical skills
A safety-conscious approach to work
Good hand-to-eye coordination
- Desirable:
The ability to operate and set press brake machines would be desirable
Competent to sling and use overhead cranes

I am currently working with a large Plant company in the Swindon area who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Plant Fitter Engineer.
This role will be covering the area for any call outs and working on all vehicles/machines at the Depot.

The role of Plant Fitter / Agricultural Engineer will entail mainly servicing and maintaining farm equipment. You will be responsible for making sure machinery and equipment run smoothly and provide excellent customer service thereby maximising customer retention.
Plant Fitter Main Responsibilities
This role includes the following key priorities:
- Servicing and repairing machinery and equipment, either in the workshop or during field visits.
- Fixing faults or installing replacement parts.
- Compliance with manufacturers service and warranty procedures.
- Account for all hours worked using timesheet or scanner, as applicable.
- Keep the Management informed of progress.
- Maintain work area and company vehicle in a safe, tidy, and professional manner, necessary to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Employees must act in accordance with the company Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices.
Plant Fitter Personal Specification
- Good mechanical knowledge of any vehicle or machinery would be ideal and experience in the agricultural sector would be a bonus but not essential as full training is available.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
- An awareness of health and safety.
- A full drivers licence is essential.
