Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Extrusion Helper assists Extrusion Operators as needed with line operation; die head changes, monitoring line controls, and making any adjustments as needed. Operate Accumulator and Twister Machines for making bobbins of Fiber Threading accumulator and twisters of fiber from end of extrusion line to equipment Operate machine within operating procedure and adjust equipment settings as appropriate Doffing of 18# bobbins off twister approximately every 13 minutes Palletize bobbins Keep Machine clean and free of debris Extrusion Lines 4, 5 & 6 Pull tow (fiber ends) while operator is threading the line Coil fiber ends while operator is tying fiber ends to fiber ends in accumulator Separating fiber ends in combs once extrusion line is in production Extrusion Lines 2 & 3 Pull sheet while operator is threading the line and the Cutter . Tying fiber ends in after line is in production Pack down cut fiber in Gaylord boxes Extrusion Line 1 Assist operator in pulling fibers from spin beams to first roll stand Pull tow while operator threads tow into Cutter. Education & Experience:

Adjust a batch, under QC guidance, until it is approved. Get batch tickets from floor supervisor and discuss with floor supervisor the best order.
Determine raw materials needed. Housekeeping - Clean up work area to 5S standards, takes out trash, participate in cycle count and inventory program. May assist in other departments such as filling, and material handling or help make sample batches Ensure work area is safe, clean and free of recognizable hazards, communicating all spills or other hazards to the shift supervisor Responsible for Dust collector cleanouts when required. Proper PPE must be worn at all times. Manage proper levels in the bulk tanks through communication with production, scheduling and through monitoring of tank levels Perform calculations to determine if there is adequate storage room in tank prior to unloading tanker Monitor and manage containment tank levels as needed.
This includes checking tank levels and draining as needed. Maintain floor cleanliness throughout the plant as needed with the floor scrubber.
Operate and maintain floor scrubber as needed to maintain areas. Properly handle all chemical unloading to ensure any spills are properly managed and cleaned up. All spilled chemicals must be safely transferred to the appropriate hazardous or non-hazardous waste disposal container. Professionally interact with truck drivers delivering chemicals to site.
Ensure the proper paper work arrives with each shipment and ensure paper work is transferred to the plant buyer.
Support 5S initiative by ensuring work area is safe, clean and free of recognizable hazards; communicate all spills or other hazards to the shift supervisor or other member of the plant management staff. When necessary, assist with other material handling functions in the plant.
This can involve receiving and shipping functions and providing assistance with running thru lunches and breaks. Safely use material handling equipment, including sit-down and standup forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories as necessary.
Conduct safety audits and inspections as required. Assist in other departments as needed.
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to read and understand instructions, bills of lading and other shipping documents. Ability to do basic math. Accurately enter and retrieve computer data. Ability to operate a forklift. Ability to solve problems in a team environment. Active participation in team building activities. Ability to consistently lift 55 pounds.
