Main responsibilities will be those of an Employment Lawyer.
This will include giving advice in relation to Employment Law, policy, governance, conducting litigation; and where necessary and appropriate appearing as advocate in Court and at tribunals (including the ET), hearings, and inquiries.
Other responsibilities will relate to other work carried out by the Litigation Team, particularly in relation to civil litigation and assisting with clerking education appeals during busy periods.
Responsibilities
To attend and advise such committees, sub-committees and other groups and panels of the Council as instructed by the Director of Governance and Legal.
Provide general legal advice to Members of the Council and Officers of the Council and to associated bodies, companies and organisations as instructed by the Director of Governance and Legal.
Implement or secure the implementation of those decisions of the Council relating to legal matters as may be allocated by the Director of Governance and Legal or relevant Operational Manager
Conduct litigation on behalf of the Council, be responsible for the care and conduct of such proceedings and act as the Council's advocate before Courts, inquiries, hearings and tribunals including contested hearing.
Negotiate and draft contracts, agreements, instruments of governance, and the like.
Prepare matters and papers for any form of legal or quasi legal proceedings and undertake any statutory or administrative task ordinarily required of Legal Services by the Council.
Deal with disputes and complaints.
Keep abreast of developments in the law and to advise the Council through the Director of Governance and Legal Services from time to time on such matters as will impinge upon its functions.
Assist in the provision of a comprehensive legal service to the Council
To support the work of senior staff and assist the work of junior staff on legal issues
Requiements
Qualified Solicitor or barrister with current practising certificate or equivalent qualification with ability to practice
Experience and knowledge of Employment law or the ability to acquire them quickly
Experience of litigation
Practical knowledge of public law
Effective advocate
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Good drafting skills
Ability to work as an effective part of a professional team to deliver complex issues

The Role: The firm is looking to bring a solicitor on board to deal with a commercial litigation caseload.
The work will be really broad ranging, acting for a variety of healthcare sector clients and includes breach of contract claims, associate disputes, partnership disputes, debt recovery, insolvency proceedings, trademark infringement, disputes with NHS contracts, property disputes and negligence claims.
Due to the close relationship between certain areas of litigation and employment law, our client requires someone who has experience and knowledge in the field of employment law, albeit most employment law matters will be handled by the dedicated employment law team.

About you
The team is incredibly busy and there is plenty of work in the pipeline therefore the successful candidate must be confident in running their own caseload autonomously or with limited supervision.
Our client is looking to recruit a solicitor with at least 3+ years' PQE with commercial Litigation experience.
The successful candidate will be looking to develop their experience in Commercial litigation, as well as showing a demonstrable interest in building their career and becoming one of the best in their field with the support and development that they have to offer.
It would be preferable if you had experience in the Healthcare sector, however, this is by no means necessary for the role.
The firm also handle some regulatory work, therefore, someone with experience in this area in addition to the general litigation and employment law would be extremely attractive to the firm.

This well-established national law firm is looking for a Senior Employment Solicitor to join their highly successful, Band 1, national team.

It would be ideal if you have some experience of working for health-based clients and those operating on frameworks however this isn't essential.

The Role - Forensic Vehicle Fire Investigator:
â Travelling to and from storage compounds or the location of fire damaged vehicles
â Conducting thorough, forensic vehicle examinations, capturing important details and Photographs
â Using the results of inspection in conjunction with other evidence to determine the likely origin and cause of vehicle fires
â Producing, independent, technical reports that accurately present and interpret the evidence in a manner easily understandable by a layperson, insurer, lawyer, or court.
â Working in full compliance of civil procedure rules
â Liaising with barristers/ legal teams and giving expert witness testimony in court where required
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Forensic Vehicle Fire Investigator:
- Experience in Forensic Investivations
- A Level 5 (HND) qualification in an engineering subject and previous vehicle fire investigation experience/ qualification is ideal.
However, some training is available so candidates who can demonstrate a high level of experience in motor mechanical investigations are also encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge and Abilities: Principally, you must be well-organised, motivated, capable of working autonomously, possess an aptitude for problem solving, and have excellent written and verbal skills.
