The Role
My client is currently seeking a Legal Secretary or an Assistant with at least 2 years' experience to join my client's residential property team and effectively assist Fee Earners with a varied amount of residential conveyancing matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend upon clients to take instructions and information.
- Type dictated letters, documents, and notes.
- Order property searches.
- Obtain and verify client IDs.
- Liaise with third parties such as estate agents, solicitors, and management companies.
- Advise and keep clients informed throughout their matter.
- Undertake post-completion tasks such as SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
- Assist Fee Earners with general matter progression.
- Perform general administrative duties, including scanning post onto the system.
- Exhibit flexibility to work at any office and assist other Fee Earners as needed.

My client is an established law firm who specialise in residential property and have been through an exceptional period of growth over the last 5 years.
They are looking for additional Remote Working Conveyancing Fee Earners to join their growing team due to further ambitious plans to expand.
You will be responsible for handling a caseload of transactions, providing conveyancing for clients and delivering completions within the required timeframes as per the terms of their auction transactions.
Ideally, you will be used to working within a fast-paced environment and handling files at every stage of the conveyancing process.
On top of effectively managing your caseload, you will also be responsible for providing an excellent customer service to clients and third-parties, as well as maintaining internal relationships across the business.
You will work with your assigned Conveyancing Assistant, allocating and delegating tasks to assist with the delivery of targets and timeframes.
You will be used to working in a fast paced and driven environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- You will handle your own case load of around 65-75 files, working in an organised and effective manner in order to hit deadlines.
- You will work collaboratively with your assigned Conveyancing Assistant(s) and Sales Progressor, allocating and delegating tasks to assist with the delivery of targets and timeframes.
- You will use your strong customer service and relationship building skills to liaise with buyers, vendors, and solicitors on their transactions, providing regular updates to ensure files are progressed to completion as quickly as possible.
- You will obtain and check land registry documents and title deeds (if the land is unregistered), drafting legal documents, including but not limited to contracts and Land Registry documents.
- You will ensure all files comply with the company policies and the regulatory framework including CLA, SRA and solicitor account rules.
- You will present yourself and your firm in the best way to your partner agents, their clients your team and everyone else involved in the transaction.
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as Conveyancer, be a licensed conveyancer or equivalent or Solicitor NQ up to 5 years PQE
Minimum 12 months case handling experience required with the ability to title check Freehold/Leasehold and unregistered
- Have excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise work
- Have attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Have the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines with a proactive approach
- Work well in a fast-paced environment

Role Responsibilities

You will also :
To perform all aspects of kitchen duties as directed by the cook or person in charge
Comply with Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations and catering policies/procedures.
Take part in the on-going training plan
Attend and contribute to regularly held staff meetings, in order to ensure good communication and development of home environment
As and when directed by the cook, take part in the preparation, cooking and presentation of all food in accordance with current legislation, procedures and guidelines
Where appropriate, assume the duties and responsibilities of the cook when required, and/or carry out duties at the request of the management team
Ensure compliance with the Council's Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and Procedures
To implement the principles of the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy whilst carrying out the above duties
To adhere to Health and Safety legislation / relevant Council policies and procedures and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected by your acts / omissions.

Requirements
Must have
Previous kitchen / catering experience
An up to date enhanced DBS
An understanding of the needs of older people
Ability to assist in all areas of the kitchen to achieve the required standards
Be able to use own initiative in the day to day running of the kitchen
Be able to work under pressure
Good communication skills
Good recording skills
Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
Ability to be flexible in order to meet service needs
Level 2 food hygiene certificate
