You will manage a caseload of complex clinical negligence claims, focusing on higher-value cases against NHS Hospital Trusts and GPs.
The role involves both pre-issue and issued work, with opportunities to handle catastrophic injury cases, including birth injuries.

What Were Looking For
- Strong clinical negligence experience, ideally with Law Society or AVMA accreditation (support provided if not yet accredited).
- Proven billing track record with experience handling high-value claims.
- Expertise in CPR and Litigation, alongside excellent client care skills.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding when working with seriously injured claimants.
- Knowledge of Proclaim case management systems (desirable).
- Team player with an organised and efficient approach.
- Willingness to contribute to marketing efforts, including blog writing and attendance at events.

The role:
The successful applicant will handle a caseload of pre and post-litigated claims brought primarily under Sections 9a and 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.

Key tasks:

- Collation of special damages

- Issue Court Proceedings
- Use Proclaim (claims management software) competently and effectively, ensuing that business process and policy is adhered to
- Communicate effectively with clients
- Liaise with and build positive and professional relationships across the business
- Carry out other duties, as and when required, to assist in the smooth running of the business
The successful applicant:
Our team structure means that we can support applicants with varying degrees of prior experience and have successfully supported several staff who have re-trained from fast paced litigation backgrounds such as personal injury.
Successful candidates will be confident communicators with a high level of written and verbal skills and good attention to detail.
You must be well organised and able to work in a busy environment with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight timescales.
It is preferable that candidates be educated to degree level, and those applying for more senior fee earning roles may possess FILEX, ILEX qualifications or similar experience.
Experience:
- Housing Disrepair experience essential, we would also consider applicants with significant (10 years plus) contentious civil litigation experience
- Able to bill work at Grade B or above
- Case Management System (Proclaim is used) experience is a must to be able to handle volume litigation
- Demonstrable experience of being able to work at pace, with ability to manage competing priorities within own caseload
- Have experience of litigating own matters

The role will be incredibly varied in terms of the work on offer and will include both contentious and non-contentious work.
Clients are focused on the Health sector which gives it a slightly different feel to those where you would work for commercial clients including a political aspect to it that if often shifting.
Whilst some find that frustrating, others love the ever-changing nature of the work that this gives.
This is a senior role, as such you would be expected to be able to run complex matters, assist in managing or lead with client relationships ( depending upon your level of experience) and assist with the supervision and support of more junior lawyers too.
You would be part of a national team and there is huge flexibility around home and office working.
Having recruited extensively for this practice we really can't recommend them highlight enough, they have really high-quality lawyers and work but blend this with a massively flexible and supportive approach which means that their staff retention is really strong, and you'd have a great working environment, in and out of the office.
