Manufacturing Engineer

This Manufacturing Engineer role offers a rare chance to work on complex, high-spec composite products used across defence, aerospace, and advanced marine industries.

This long-established manufacturer designs, engineers, and produces large composite structures and GRP mouldings in-house, from concept through to final assembly.
With continued growth and a strong order book, they are now looking to strengthen their engineering team with an experienced Manufacturing Engineer based at their Winfrith site.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will report into the Engineering Manager and play a critical role in bridging design and production.
Youll be hands-on, methodical, and confident working at shop-floor level to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The Manufacturing Engineer role will involve:
- Creating and implementing detailed manufacturing work instructions and visual aids, including lay-up and assembly manuals
- Translating customer drawings and CAD data into practical manufacturing solutions
- Designing mould tools, assembly fixtures, templates, foam kits, and manufacturing aids
- Setting up and managing part numbers, BOMs, and routings within the MRP system
- Driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency
- Providing cost input and manufacturing insight during quotation and project planning stages
- Liaising with customers and suppliers to support successful project delivery
- Supporting and mentoring shop floor operatives, helping build capability and consistency
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Working closely with design teams to ensure products are fully manufacturable
What were looking for in a Manufacturing Engineer:
Essential
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar engineering role, ideally within composites
- Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software
- A structured, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Confidence working between engineering, production, and project teams
Desirable
- Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools
- Experience working within ISO accredited environments
Due to the nature of the work, this Manufacturing Engineer role requires candidates to pass DBS checks and National Security Vetting where applicable.
Full support will be provided throughout the clearance process.

The EHS Director is accountable for the implementation of RPM, Tremco CPG Inc.
and USA standards and programs through the North American regional EHS Managers.
Job Family Key Accountabilities:
Client / Customer Service
Develop and communicate standards of EHS&S code of conduct, ensure mutual understanding, and mitigate exposure to hazardous / undesirable conditions in our business operations and product uses.
Enterprise Operations Support
Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive regulatory compliance programs in the areas of occupational health and safety, hazardous materials management, environmental management, transportation materials safety, security, and product compliance.
Interprets regulations, develops legislatively compliant, organizationally appropriate standards for Tremco North American businesses.
Conducts EHS&S audits, documents statistics with respect to EHS&S program compliance and makes recommendations with respect to annual safety program changes and objectives.
Represents Tremco with professional organizations, regulatory bodies, and government agencies, and acts as primary point of contact for Tremco Group EHS&S compliance systems.
May act as expert witness in the event of investigations and legal proceedings.

Qualifications
University degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Safety Sciences) coupled with formal training in the areas of occupational health and safety, plus 7 to 10 years' experience leading and contributing to compliance and regulatory policy and program development in a materials processing environment, preferably in the chemical processing industry.
Board of Certified EHS Professional - Certified Safety Professional certificate, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Environmental Manager (CEM).
Competencies
Broad understanding of North American regulatory compliance requirements, risk assessment and mitigation programs in multiple jurisdictions.
Ability to inspire others to commit to and achieve EHS&S program goals and performance measures in a production environment with varying levels of literacy and educational background.
Ability to develop a business case for new program development / program modification.

Technology Knowledge:
