Quality Assurance (QA) Operative - Night Shift
Rochester | Monday to Thursday 6pm - 6am | £30,000 - £31,000pa

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in the food manufacturing industry who has hands-on practical experience and a keen eye for detail.
Position Overview
As the QA Operative, you will be responsible for conducting thorough quality inspection checks on products, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
You will work closely with the Production team to resolve any quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive a strong food safety and quality culture within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
- Report and quarantine non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Support continuous improvement, right-first-time performance, and waste reduction.
- Calibrate equipment and maintain up-to-date calibration records.
- Swab and release equipment post-cleaning for production use.
- Perform positive release of finished goods to verify quality standards.
- Accurately complete all documentation and maintain traceability.
- Log and investigate foreign body rejections.
- Conduct internal audits, report findings, and implement corrective measures.
- Assist with shelf-life testing and microbiological sampling.
- Uphold the Quality Management System, promoting food safety and quality culture.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal procedures.

- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards at all times
- Set, tool, and operate filling, labelling and packing machinery
- Monitor product quality and make necessary adjustments to improve machinery efficiency
- Checking of batch numbers and material quality before use against the assigned paperwork
- Working on an assembly line at a required speed to ensure that set targets and KPI's are met
- Reporting of defects and machinery defects to the production manager
- Picking and packaging finished goods
- Complete paperwork to GMP standards and perform daily machine checks
- Maintain a clean work environment and report any issues to line managers
- Lift ingredients and machine parts up to 25 kg
- Adhere to site Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations

Maintenance Engineer
Birmingham | Permanent | Shift Work (rota provided 1 year in advance)
Our client, a leading international manufacturer, is currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their site in Birmingham at a time of huge growth for the business.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of manufacturing processes.
This includes carrying out routine inspections, liaising closely with production teams, maintaining equipment to the highest standards, and performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance activities.
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer
- Carrying out both mechanical and electrical maintenance activities.
- Carry out routine daily preventative maintenance checks
- Work alongside the Production Team Leaders, Shift Technicians and Operators, reporting findings to your Departmental Team Leader
- Take responsibility for any specific area as required to understand its operation and fully understand the maintenance requirements and safe systems of work for that area

- Carry out all non-planned and planned maintenance tasks promptly

Candidate Profile
- HND/HNC Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Essential)
- Strong Mechanical and Electrical experience
- Previous experience in heavy industry and manufacturing
- Knowledge of Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Mechanical systems
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
- Attention to detail with the ability to analyse problems and take action on solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Our client, a leading international manufacturer, is currently recruiting for an experienced Machine Operator to join their site in Birmingham at a time of huge growth for the business.
As a Machine Operator, you will be a key member of the production team.
You will be responsible for operating and monitoring the machinery to produce high-quality products efficiently and safely.
Your role is vital to meeting customer requirements and upholding the company's high standards for quality and sustainability.
Responsibilities of a Machine Operator
- Operate and monitor the machinery process to maximise efficiency.
- To monitor, replenish and change production consumables when requested.
- Minimise ongoing or potential machine stoppages.
- In collaboration with the production and maintenance teams, control daily machine shutdowns.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams on the daily plan.
- Use process control computers for monitoring and problem-solving.
- Report on operations and safety to the Shift Manager.
- Check products against ISO 9001 paper specifications.
- Assist maintenance teams during breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Actively participate in the company's continuous improvement culture.
Candidate Profile
- Previous Machine Operating experience in a manufacturing/production/heavy industry environment
- Strong computer skills
- Previous experience in paper, RDC, automotive and other similar industries
- FLT license (desirable)
- 3-5 Passed GCSEs including English and Maths
- A keen eye for detail, particularly for quality control
- Ability to adapt to new technology and working practices.
