The Client:
Our client is a well-established therapeutic school, offering education and therapy for pupils to pupils with adverse childhood experiences.
The Role:
As a Speech & Language Therapist, you will develop and implement effective, engaging therapy programmes, supported by educational staff.
You will be instructing students from KS1 to KS2.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with colleagues to enhance therapy outcomes.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with childrens families.
* Ensure the safety and supervision of children under your care.
* Lead and deliver comprehensive therapeutic training to staff.
* Conduct therapy ethically, safely, and with consent.
* Perform assessments and provide detailed reports on childrens progress.
* Set functional goals to foster meaningful participation and independence among students.
* Develop and oversee whole class intervention programs.
* Maintain regular communication with families and participate in school meetings and open days.
* Engage in continuous learning and supervision to enhance therapeutic practices.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist or in a similar role.
* Experience working with children and young people in challenging educational environments.
* Understanding of child development, mental health issues, and the educational needs of children with SEMH and SEN.
* Background in own specialised therapeutic field.
* Degree in speech and language therapy or a related field, with registration to a relevant professional body such as BACP.
* Proficiency in English and Mathematics.
* Ability to manage a classroom or similar settings, addressing challenging behaviours effectively.
* Additional qualifications in therapy, special educational needs, or leadership would be desirable.
