Noise Officer

A local authority based in West London is looking for a Noise & Nuisance Officer to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full relevant qualification in Environmental Health/Noise Pollution, experience within a Noise/Nuisance team and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is to provide specialist knowledge, expertise and experience for planning development and construction works in relation to noise, vibration and light.

To support the Noise and Nuisance Service both during office hours and as part of an out-of-hours 7 day a week service operation

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Relevant qualification in Environmental Health

Qualification or experience with Environmental Health

Experience with construction/building regulations

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

To oversee and manage the response and investigation / resolution, within published service standards / performance targets, of matters relating to construction sites regulated under S.60 and S.61 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and planning application consultations.

To give expert advice to Officers within the Noise and Nuisance Service and to the Council's Planning Department.

Oversight of the delegation and preparation of legal notices under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Control of Pollution Act 1974 and any other legislation that is appropriate to secure the main purpose of the post, including any enforcement action in respect of these when necessary.

To draft reports, and prepare responses to reports prepared by outside bodies, and indicate the significant impacts on people and the wider environment.

To represent the Council at meetings concerning environmental noise matters.

Oversight of the delegation and preparation and assist the instigation of all necessary legal action in line with Council policy, including the preparation and presentation of evidence at Court and Tribunals.

Instigate and oversight of projects and initiatives in relation to the work of the Noise and Nuisance Service and, where appropriate, the rest of the Environment Department / Council as a whole.

Undertake projects and initiatives to improve the delivery of the service.

These projects may reflect the impact of the wider Environmental Health agenda on the operation of the premises visited.

To undertake the training of staff (including students from other authorities and other professionals) and be responsible for the supervision of students and other trainees as required.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of £22 - £24 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£560 - £600 p/week NET after deductions).
