Steel Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to join our team in Leicester.

This role involves managing enquiries, preparing competitive tenders, and converting orders into manufacturing packages for fabrication, while building strong relationships with customers.

Location: Leicester
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Thursday - 7:45am to 4:45pm, Friday - 7:45am to 2:15pm
Package Value to work on: Up to £1 million

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret technical tender drawings, extracting and pricing required materials.


• Prepare detailed take-offs and tenders, factoring in material, labour, plant, and site operations.


• Engage with suppliers to establish accurate costs for inclusion in bids.


• Produce and submit quotations to clients, following up to gather feedback.


• Negotiate and finalise tenders, ensuring all key details are clearly communicated to the Contracts team.


• Maintain consistent market price data and deliver timely, high-quality responses to enquiries.


• Build and maintain professional relationships with new and existing clients.

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of structural, secondary, and architectural steelwork.


• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar estimating role.


• Ability to read technical and architectural drawings.


• Good understanding of building regulations, contract law, and health & safety legislation.


• High attention to detail with excellent numerical, IT, and commercial skills.


• Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational abilities.


• CRM experience and a full UK driving licence (desirable).
