Manual Turner Salary: £19-£23.50

Looking for a proper hands-on role where your skill actually counts? We are hiring a Manual Turner to help produce flight-critical parts for a respected aerospace manufacturer.

This is a contract position with solid hours, tidy kit, and work that rewards care and craft.
You will be the Manual Turner trusted to take a job from drawing to finished component, to aerospace standards, not guesswork.

If you are the Manual Turner who takes pride in clean surface finishes, accurate threads, and paperwork that matches the part, you will fit right in.
Day to day

- As the Manual Turner, machine parts on manual lathes from start to finish, to aerospace specifications.
- Set tooling, pick speeds and feeds, and keep tolerances where they should be.
- Interpret drawings and follow route cards and process sheets.
- Inspect first offs and final parts using verniers, micrometres, plug gauges and other hand tools.
- Keep the work area organised, raise issues early, and hit agreed timings.

What you need

- You are a Manual Turner with recent experience on manual lathes in precision engineering.
- Confident reading drawings, both metric and imperial, with a good grasp of fits and tolerances.
- Comfortable completing in process checks and recording results.
- Lean-minded approach, safe working habits, and a calm, methodical style.
- Security clearance eligibility and drug testing acceptance are required.
- Apprentice-trained Manual Turner status will help you secure the top end of the rate.
