Commercial Underwriter | Newcastle | £30,000 - £40,000 | Hybrid
This brokerage is in the middle of something exciting. They're expanding their underwriting capability, bringing more delegated authority schemes in-house, and looking for smart, adaptable people to help shape what comes next.
You'll be joining an established underwriting team that's grown steadily over the last year, now handling a wide variety of schemes across property, leisure, equine, and rural sectors - with more on the way.
The goal is to bring structure and consistency as the business scales, which means there's real scope to develop and take ownership as things evolve.
They're looking for a couple of people to join - one with solid underwriting experience who can hit the ground running, and another who's early in their career but ready to learn fast.
Either way, this is a team that values initiative, collaboration, and clear communication.
Because they sit between brokers and insurers, you'll need to be comfortable having honest conversations with both sides -balancing technical accuracy with commercial sense.
It's a role where relationship-building matters just as much as the underwriting itself.
What they're looking for
Background in commercial underwriting or broking (delegated authority experience a bonus)
Strong communication skills and confidence handling external relationships
Ability to prioritise, stay organised, and think critically about risk
Comfortable working collaboratively in a busy, evolving team environment
Open-minded and keen to get involved as the team develops its new systems and processes
What's on offer
Salary between £30,000 and £40,000 depending on experience
Hybrid working (typically three days in the office, two from home)
Opportunity to specialise as new schemes are brought in
Structured training and development from a long-standing leadership team
A stable business that's growing, modernising, and investing in its people
If you're looking for variety, progression, and the chance to be part of a team that's really going somewhere, this is a great time to join.
