Quantity Surveyor

Location: Barrow-in-Furness


Hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 hour for lunch.


Salary: £55,000 per annum DOE + Car Allowance

Job Description:


About Us: Our company has an exceptional opportunity at our s site in Barrow-in-Furness.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team and contribute to the growth of our projects, primarily focused on the Barrow account.


Job Purpose: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in developing contract value optimisation, tracking Divisional performance, and implementing a consistent commercial framework for projects.

You will lead the assessment and delivery of projects in line with Group policies and procedures, with a focus on the Barrow account.


Principal Accountabilities:



  • Implement, monitor, and control the commercial framework consistently across the Projects North area division

  • Improve profitability and competitive performance through effective negotiation and maximising opportunities

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to reduce risk and optimise profit on contracts

  • Establish and maintain business relationships with key stakeholders

  • Provide monthly business analysis to Commercial Manager and General Manager

  • Take full responsibility for negotiations, valuations, and final accounts

  • Protect the UK brand through professional commercial practice


Person Specification:



  • Extensive experience in a services environment, with value-led sales pricing and cost estimating

  • Experienced in contract value optimisation and risk management

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to prepare and negotiate contracts

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team

  • Good presentation skills, both written and oral

  • Proven ability to contribute to long-term business plans and commercial strategy

  • Ideally qualified to HNC/degree level in relevant field

  • Valid full driving licence
